About me

   I am an exchange student from Taiwan, and my name is Dennis Liao.  Since I was so interested in learning English, I had a goal to study abroad when I was little. I have the belief that as long as I have patience, one day I will be completely successful when learning it. Therefore, my parents provided me the opportunity to study overseas. I have been in Canada for a year. In this time living in Canada, I have grown up so much; I have become much more mature taking care of myself and standing on my own feet.

   I am an energetic person with a sunny personality; I like to travel, perform and experience many different things instead of staying at home and wasting time. Also, I prefer to attempt things which are new to me. In this competitive society, I want to learn and take up challenges. Because there is no excuse for me to get away from challenges, I am determined to face them bravely. I not only concentrate in the pursuit of extensive knowledge, but also expand my view of the world.

   I am an active person. When I was in Taiwan, I joined a club called the “Entertainment Guide Club”. We learned how to act, host, and how to hold activities. For my second year in this club, I had the position of club leader. I led my club in holding a lot of activities for all of the same clubs around Taiwan. By participating in these activities in my club, I learned leadership skills. With constant practice and my partners’ encouragement, I held a very successful anniversary activity for our club. This completely changed me. I not only learned how to improve my interpersonal relations, but I also learned to never give up half way when I met with frustration. Hence, this club made my high school life so much more colorful and brilliant.

   Through my involvement with the club, I found what I wanted to do and my personality is like. I am fond of communicating with people and exchanging our opinions; I like to perform and act. Furthermore, I would like to combine my hobbies, personality, dreams and my past experiences to determine what should I major in at college. I believe that learning some professional skills of television is an essential element. I have a positive plan for my future. I hope to become a successful television producer in the future, and my parents also encourage me to work hard to reach my aim. Without a doubt, television is the one of the most important inventions of human beings; it plays a big role in the modern world. Television undoubtedly renders better entertainment to human beings, and develops a new way of life. Furthermore, television can provide people with a variety of information from all around the world. Finally, I decided to study at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT),Broadcast and Media Communications-Television program, because I have confidence in learning everything at BCIT, and I have courage to do everything I need to meet my goals..

    I want to absorb myself in learning television skills, which will surely help me in the plan that I have to be a successful producer.
